    – Spiro Secures Additional USD 55 M, Taking Latest Round To USD 270 M

African electric mobility company Spiro has secured an additional USD 55 M equity investment from Chinese investor NewTrails Capital, bringing its latest funding round to USD 270 M.

Founded in 2022 by Gagan Gupta, Spiro operates one of Africa’s largest electric motorcycle and battery-swapping networks, serving markets including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. The new investment follows a USD 215 M equity raise announced earlier this month and takes the company’s total disclosed funding to approximately USD 557 M.

Spiro plans to use the capital to expand its battery-swapping infrastructure, manufacturing operations, and energy network across Africa. The company says it has deployed more than 100,000 electric vehicles and built over 2,500 battery-swapping stations across seven countries, positioning itself as a leader in Africa’s clean mobility transition.

    – Daya Raises USD 2.4 M Pre-Seed To Build Stablecoin Payment Rails For African Businesses

African stablecoin payments startup Daya has raised USD 2.4 M in a pre-seed funding round led by Hivemind Capital, with participation from Lattice, Alliance, Globelink, and Aptos Foundation.

Founded in 2025 by Aleph Lasebikan and Paul Joe, former operators at Microsoft, Circle, and YC-backed Helicarrier, Daya is building a financial operating layer that helps African businesses manage cross-border payments more efficiently.

The platform enables users to collect funds in local currencies, convert them intelligently using stablecoin rails, and settle globally.

Daya is targeting businesses, freelancers, and companies that regularly make international payments or pay suppliers across borders. The new funding will support the development of infrastructure aimed at reducing the cost, complexity, and friction of moving money across African and global markets.

-Tunisia’s RoboCare secures funding to accelerate precision agriculture in Africa, Middle East

Tunisian startup RoboCare, which specialises in precision agriculture and artificial intelligence applied to the agricultural sector, has secured a six-figure investment from 216 Capital.

Founded in Sfax, RoboCare develops an agricultural management platform that helps farmers make better decisions through the intelligent use of multiple data sources – satellite imagery, drone data, IoT sensors, weather data, and field expertise.

Through its AI models, the solution enables early detection of crop diseases and stress, optimises resource usage, and improves farm performance.

RoboCare has now raised a six-figure funding round from 216 Capital to support its next growth phase and expansion into African and Middle Eastern markets.

“For 216 Capital, this investment fully aligns with its strategy of supporting high-potential tech startups capable of delivering concrete answers to the continent’s major economic, social, and environmental challenges,” said Hassen Arfaoui, principal at 216 Capital.

    – Flat6Labs, IFC launch StartAlgeria capacity-building programme

Egypt’s Flat6Labs, the IFC and Algeria’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-Enterprises have launched StartAlgeria, a capacity-building programme that puts entrepreneur support organisations (ESOs) at the forefront of Algeria’s ecosystem future.

StartAlgeria comes at a key moment for Algeria’s entrepreneurship landscape, shifting the focus toward improving how the ESOs operate by providing them with international best practices adapted to each organization’s needs, a community-driven approach that focuses on peer learning, and facilitating connections with investors, policymakers, and key stakeholders.

The programme is designed to equip Algerian ESOs reinforcing pre-seed and seed-stage startups with the expertise, frameworks, and networks needed to contribute to a stronger, more competitive entrepreneurship ecosystem in Algeria and expand into global markets.

StartAlgeria will pilot a first cohort focusing on incubators in the capital, Algiers. Following a call for application, the selected ESOs will go through a structured programme comprising workshops and masterclasses covering key areas such as startup selection, program design and delivery, and investment readiness.

In addition to the core programme, participating ESOs will benefit from six months of post-programme mentorship, focusing on areas such as fundraising strategy, partnership development, financial sustainability, and programme improvement. This sustained engagement’s goal is to provide a lasting impact in how Algerian ESOs operate and what they’re able to offer the startups they champion.
