Over four days, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 kicks off on Monday in Barcelona under the theme “Converge, Connect, and Create.” It is expected to generate significant global excitement, as it is the largest event in the telecommunications sector worldwide.
Running from 3-6 March, the exhibition is set to showcase numerous innovations and new technologies, including advanced tools and breakthroughs in the tech and communications fields.
As announced, the event this year will discuss six key topics; 5G, connected IoT devices, generative AI, companies adaptations to the new technologies, game changers in the technology field, and how companies can prioritize the digital evolution while keeping in mind the ecological transition.
According to the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA), the global association for mobile operators that has organized the event since 2006 in Catalonia’s capital, around 100,000 professionals are expected to attend this major annual event dedicated to smartphones and electronic services.
The organizers noted that this year’s exhibition will feature 2,700 exhibitors, along with 1,200 speakers, some of whom the audience will be able to hear through real-time translations using artificial intelligence in Spanish, French, Korean, or Chinese.
Notable speakers include Scott Galloway, the renowned economist and host of the Pivot podcast; Teresa Ribera, the European Commission’s Vice President; Hatem Dowidar, the CEO of e& Group; and Arthur Mins, co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI.
Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, former Google engineer Ray Kurzweil, and German computer scientist Jürgen Schmidhuber, a pioneer of modern artificial intelligence, will also participate.
Most of the major telecommunications companies will be present at MWC 2025, including Samsung, Huawei, Nokia, Orange, and Xiaomi, along with tech giants like Google, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft.
The conference will address the most pressing technological transformations across 12 main sessions, with artificial intelligence expected to be a prevalent theme this year, according to Thomas Husson, Vice President at Forrester.
Several manufacturers and telecom operators are preparing to announce their products at the exhibition, including the Chinese company Honor, which will unveil a tool for detecting deepfakes (content altered using artificial intelligence), and the Spanish company Telefónica, which will showcase health-related applications.
Samsung plans to demonstrate how artificial intelligence has become an integral part of its ecosystem, impacting everything from how people interact with their devices to how networks operate, according to a report from PhoneArena.
At MWC 2025, Samsung will also showcase the Galaxy S25 Edge, promoted as the thinnest device in the Galaxy S series to date.
In addition to smartphones, Samsung is exploring how artificial intelligence can improve health and home management.
Visitors to the Mobile World Congress will witness demonstrations of AI-powered health insights, including energy levels, wellness tips, and sleep analysis.
Samsung will also unveil “Project Moohan,” a smart glasses system running on Android XR that combines artificial intelligence with extended reality, aiming to create more immersive and context-aware experiences.
During the conference, Samsung will highlight its partnerships and collaborations, including a recent project with Hyundai on private 5G networks.
